The International Festival of Cinema and Television Taganay muses in Russia awards Iranian short animation ‘The Bystander’.
The animation won an award at a section titled “Творящие добро” which can be translated into “good production”.
Directed by Sheyda Kashi, ‘The Bystander’ is a cinematic depiction of society that does not accept differences and is heading for annihilation.
It is about an old man who is living behind a window from where he sees a dark world and remembers his past when he was an active revolutionary.
The animation recently won Best Animation award at the 2018 Light of the World Film Festival in Russia and the second prize in the animation or experimental film section of the 21st Faludi International Youth Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary.
It was also screened at several film events, including the 4th Tehran International Animation Festival, the 15th Tirana International Film Festival in Albania, the 2nd Festival Universitaire International Ciné-Lettres D’Agadir in Morocco, the 2018 Balkan Can Kino Film Festival in Greece, the 2018 Adelaide International Women’s Film Festival in Australia, the 14th Detmold International Short Film Festival in Germany, and the 3rd International Cefalu Film Festival in Italy.
Iranian piece is also scheduled to go on screen at the 1st Oregon Cinema Arts Film Festival in the US and the 5th Arkadia ShortFest International Shortfilm Festival in Romania.
The International Festival of Cinema and Television Taganay muses is held in the city of Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk region annually.
It involves individual authors and studios of two age categories: children under 18 years of age and students of professional universities (age is not limited).
The 2018 edition of the Taganay muses was held from June 28 to July 1.
